Sorry, guys...looks like I'm going to go on a little hiatus until my hellish work schedule delivers some mercy my way. Aloha No!

**********STILL BUSY**********

The good news is that the client has finally decided that they wanted to shut my incessant whining up and gave me (and my underlings) ethernet connection to the outside world. The bad news is that it's not really helping me get home any earlier. As my poor, poor g/f would attest, I've been getting home no earlier than 8:45pm. Ain't that a bitch? I even worked most of this past Sunday! That's the NFC/AFC championship games that I've missed for this f*ckin' job! But I'll guarantee you this: you'd have to fire me if you want me to work this Sunday! I'm gonna sit my fat-audit-ass on the new couch we purchased and enjoy the fuggin' game and commercials! To the Black Hole and beyond!

Ain't nothin' else going on besides work...don't mean to bore you voyeurs out there...sowwy!

**********COUCH MASHED POTATOES**********

The shallowness of it all...we, being the homesick fools we are, decided that in order to brighten our days we needed a new couch with matching loveseat. I saw this awesome microfiber, plush, double recliner at Macy's, but it was like $2K+ for a 2 piece set...a little too rich for our blood. We decided to go tre-ghetto and bought a plush set at Levitz...sing it with me now - "We bought it at Leeeeevitz!". Anyhoo, it doesn't recline *phooey*, but my g/f loves the way it looks and sleeps. At least it looks 10 times better than our mismatched brown, wooden futon frame with two flattened futon mattresses covered by a black fitted sheet. The black sheet vaguely matches our fake ass vinyl-leather lookin' loveseat. What great interior decorators we are! I promise to take before and after pics for you all. We're true Chinese folx, eh? Nice apartment from the outside, but walk inside and it's hurng hah (rural-ghetto) fabulous!!!

**********POST-HOLIDAY BLUES**********

Y'know, I was going to describe how my last holiday visit to Hawaii was by far the most heartbraking it has ever been, but Matti beat me to it! The only difference is that I've never lived in Kahalu'u, nor have I been serenaded by a male performing artist before. Hee hee...j/k, Matt!

But in all due seriousness, I've become rather jaded (if that's the right term) with living on the mainland, especially the Bay Area since the majority of my time here was spent in the Bay. Once the darling of American investors, the Bay Area has not only lost its luster, it has become a town of desperation. People, now more than ever, are quickening the pace of how they live life...always in a rush to do something that amounts to nothing in the end. Sure job security is one thing, but all the work people do does nothing more than make you die faster. What's the f*ckin' rush, peeps? What about your friends? What about your family? What about life in general??? I have many friends in the Bay Area who try to convince me that they have an active social life with planned events here and there. What kinda social life is it when you have to enter it into your PDA device? How can you justify "penciling" your friends into a datebook? What a horrible display of affection!

I guess it all boils down to how desparately homesick I am. It was an overwhelming sense of calm once we hit the tarmac of HNL. My mom picked me up in her new car and drove me home to my parent's modest condo in Salt Lake with fresh kim chee poke and a steaming bowl of fragrant jasmine rice waiting for me. Doesn't sound like the luau mainlanders are accustomed to fantasizing, but it was comfort food for this teary-eyed bruddah. Twelve days was just too short this time around. I should have been living it up and enjoying myself to the fullest, but each passing day tugged at my heart whispering ever so gently that I belonged on the island with family and friends. I'm increasingly finding it harder and harder to convince myself that my time on the mainland is serving its purpose. And for the record, I don't think this longing...this pain...is a once-a-year event. It's gotten to be almost instinctive like salmon rushing back to their birthing grounds. And my parents..........I don't talk about them often, but every year it seems like they have a wrinkle or two more. My parent's hair is on its way to "salt-n-pepper".

I have a three year plan, peeps...I'm going to get married, start a family, and move back home to Hawaii for good. I can't deny my kids the uniqueness and the privelege of being born and raised in Hawai'i Ne. I just hope there's going to be a job there when I return *gulp*

Busy season is upon me. Updates will be sporadic at best, but I'll try....
