*********THERAPY FOR HOMESICKNESS*********

It was the hot weather, clear skies these past couple of days that really made me homesick. I was saying to myself, "If San Francisco had this kind of weather at least half of the year, I really wouldn't mind sticking around for a while." Unfortunately...sadly...this weather pattern was nothing more than an anomoly. Worse yet, I ran out of Portuguese sausage...*booo hooo!* Sure, I can go to some "Hawaiian" restaurant to recharge the Aloha, but being a Kama'aina of Hawai'i Ne is so much more than eating Kalua pig and lau lau at some grass skirt-laced restaurant. I miss the smells, the trade winds, the people, the music...

But alas, I've found relief for one of my heartaches. I was praying to God for the past couple of years I've been with broadband internet access that Hawaiian 105 would start streaming their broadcast for us traitors. My dream came true a while ago. I'm sure Matti2d would appreciate this if he hasn't found this yet. One thing that I love about Hawaiian 105 is that they play Hawaiian music from as early as the 1950's to the latest Na Hoku Hanohano award-winners. I have to have a listen at least an hour a day; most times I listen in the morning when I iron and/or drink coffee. I'm so tempted to get me a pair of wireless speakers so I can play some Hawaiian music when I shower...I'm pathetic, I know...Just know that when you click on the link to the streaming broadcast, you can always decline the spam registration process.

Oh man...*sob*...they're playing Honolulu City Lights as I'm typing this entry in. If you can survive that song during take off from HNL airport to the mainland (where you live and work), you're much stronger than I am!

And another thing...check this live streaming cam of Waikiki right in front of the Duke Kahanamoku statue. Know of anyone walking around Waikiki now that wouldn't mind stopping by and waving? Hahahaha!

**********I LOVE USELESS TRIVIA!!!**********

I don't know why at times I find myself obsessed with useless trivia. Perhaps it's the triviality of it all that makes it worthwhile to indulge. Sometimes, if I'm lucky, I can answer at least 60% of the questions on Jeopardy (disclaimer: only early on in the contest when there are practically no "returning champions"...that way the questions are rather trivial...it gets pretty f*ckin' hard after that!). My g/f would look at me like I'm this freak when all along I thought those questions were common knowledge. In any case, just so that I can share the wealth, I thought I'd share with you an email that was forwarded to me by my g/f...ironically...

  • If you yelled for 8 years, 7 months and 6 days you would have produced enough sound energy to heat one cup of coffee.

  • If you farted consistently for 6 years and 9 months, enough gas is produced to create the energy of an atomic bomb.

  • The human heart creates enough pressure when it pumps out to the body to squirt blood 30 feet.

  • A pig's orgasm lasts 30 minutes. ***holy sh*t! for reals??? now this begs the question...what did they do to the pig in order to find that out?***

  • A cockroach will live nine days without its head before it starves to death.

  • Banging your head against a wall uses 150 calories an hour.

  • The male praying mantis cannot copulate while its head is attached to its body. The female initiates sex by ripping the male's head off. ***what a frickin' turn on! that's some extreme S&M, baby!***

  • The flea can jump 350 times its body length. It's like a human jumping the length of a football field.

  • The catfish has over 27,000 taste buds.

  • Some lions mate over 50 times a day. ***geeziz! can you imagine if lions and pigs get along...and I mean really get along?***

  • Butterflies taste with their feet.

  • The strongest muscle in the body is the tongue.

  • Right-handed people live, on average, nine years longer than left-handed people.

  • Elephants are the only animals that cannot jump.

  • A cat's urine glows under a black light.

  • An ostrich's eye is bigger than its brain.

  • Starfish have no brains.

  • Polar bears are left-handed. ***probably killed off the right-handed bears cuz they lived longer***

  • Humans and dolphins are the only species that have sex for pleasure. ***what about them orgasmic pigs? pigs...praying mantis...lions...dolphins...f*ckin' barnyard orgy!***

TGIF, peeps!

**********THINGS THAT IRK ME**********

While Blogger was down, I thought of a short list of things that irked me that past couple of days:

  • Women who decide to organize their purses at the ATM when there's a long line behind them...I say we should be able to push them aside and toss their purses out on the street!

  • People in line at McDonalds who wait until they reach the counter to read the overhead menu and then become indecisive...it's not like they haven't been to a McD' before nor is it like a 5 star restaurant that changes their menu everyday! I say we should be able to kick their knees out and slap them aside!

  • Parents of stupid kids that try to "reason" with the dumbf*cks when they act up...first, your kids are stupid, so why would you impress logic on the little knuckle-dragger. second, if you are going to reason with your kid, don't get philosophical on his/her puny brain. If the little f*cknut can't add 2 and 2 together, what makes you think they'd be able to comprehend moral objectives? I say spank the little turds!

  • Pidgeons...I saw this one drunk yack it on the sidewalk, and a split second later, a flock of pidgeons were sucking the puddle of stench like it was jambalaya! Why can't we lure a large number of the winged-rats into a secured area and toss a few grenades?

  • Meeting with a recruiter today. oh joy....

    **********CHINESE GHOST STORY...IN SAN DIEGO**********

    The *Haunted* Westin Horton Plaza

Probably at this point, it's not as scary to me as when it happened, but I can guarantee you that I'll forever be sleeping with some kinda light on in any hotel I'm staying at! So enjoy...and pray for my cursed soul!

May 25th...2003...Sunday night...we tucked ourselves into bed after a very event-filled day; it's close to midnight *cue scary music*. I fall asleep moments after my head hit the pillow. I sleep for what seems like hours, but turns out to be only one and a half. I'm suddenly awakened from a gust of air as if someone wearing a long, heavy coat walked briskly past the side of the bed I'm sleeping on. As soon as I snapped out of my sleepy haze (which really was no time at all), I found myself with my forearm on my forehead, head tilted slightly to the left facing my g/f...and paralyzed! I wasn't paralyzed cuz I was scared sh*tless (which, to be frank, I was)...I really couldn't move any muscle on my body! My "freak out" turned into hysteria, as I tried with all my might to wake my g/f up. As my head was already slightly tilted to the left, my mouth was slightly open. I called out, "Babe?", but turned out to be a grotesque sheep's cry. I try again, but louder..."BAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" (side note: my g/f heard my muffled screams of sheer fright, but thought I was talking in my sleep...thanks a lot!) As soon as my second shrill echoed throughout the room, my paralysis ceased, and I immediately turned towards my g/f and shook her awake. In the midst of rousing my g/f up, I felt another swish of wind at the foot of the bed. I ask my g/f, "Did you feel that?" That was all it took for my g/f to wake right the hell up and clutch me as tight as Chinese people to soy sauce!

All my g/f would do was bury her head into my ribs and scream for all it's worth. After the whirlwind in the room, the tapping began. It wasn't really a random tapping, but quite melodic...almost like morse code. It happened in the far end of the room where the apparition would have ended up after walking briskly past me. *Tap...tap...tap, tap, tap* I had to really pee now. *Tap...tap...tap, tap, tap* I almost lai new'd (pee'd in my pants). The tapping went on for quite some time, then stopped as sudden as it started. My g/f wiggin' out next to me really didn't help calm my nerves. If the tapping wasn't enough, the smoke alarm chirped a couple of times then stopped. Ordinarily, smoke alarms will chirp when the battery is low, and will continue to do so until the battery gets changed. In hotels, however, most smoke alarms are not battery operated and are usually powered externally and hooked up to the fire alarm system throughout the building! *gasp*

During the calm moments of our haunting, my g/f, for whatever crazy reason, tells me to turn on the light...which was 6 feet away from my side of the bed! I told her she was freakin' crazy as there is a distinct possibility that I might get pulled under the bed! I retorted by asking her to turn on the light on the nightstand next to her side of the bed, but she was frozen in an embrace with my ribs and left nipple. I mustered up as much courage as possible and proceeded to turn the knob on the lamp, and in any good hauntings, the f*ckin' bulb started flickering!!! Risking a bladder infection, I decided the best course of action was to somehow...through some kinda miracle...go back to sleep and ignore the "presence" in the room as it was very clear the spector was trying to tell us something. We pulled the sheets over our heads muttering whatever prayer we could remember.

Things calmed down a bit as if ignoring the poltergeist worked, but as soon as we started to drift back to sleep, there was yet another tapping...*Tap...tap...tap, tap, tap"...this time OVER OUR HEADBOARD!!!

    Ok...I'm pretty freaked out now...

    **********SCARY TRIP RECAP...FINALLY!!!**********

Can I just say "WOW!" to all the response I've gotten for my SD and LA pics! I feel so unworthy since I was frickin' lazy and just did an upload dump. I'm sooooo unworthy!

I wanted to respond to most of the comments y'all left me, but the one in particular about the Queen Mary that Synwpn brought up. You can read the timeline history of the cruiser on the webpage, but real briefly, the Queen Mary is the bigger sister to the Titanic. During WWII, it was outfitted to be a troop carrier that still boasts the record of most troops shipped over the highseas. In October 1942, the Queen Mary collided with the British light cruiser Curacao which killed scores of peeps. As a result, the Queen Mary (dubbed the Grey Ghost) has been reported as the most haunted ship still afloat. I was pretty freaked out from the Ghosts and Legends tour, but not enough to stop me from taking this picture of the most haunted area of the ship. Supposedly, the pool is mopped down everyday, yet a little puddle of water seems to miraculously reappear. Also, most times you get to see wet footprints all over the place, but I dared not to stare for too long *blrrrrt*.

To answer yet another question Synpwn asked, the Russian submarine Scorpion really had nothing to do with the Queen Mary other than the fact that you can buy discounted tix to tour both vessels...hahahahahaha!!!

Speaking of ghost stories, I have a pretty good one about the last night we stayed at the Westin in Horton Plaza during our visit to San Diego, but I'll save that one for tomorrow. Again, thanks to everyone and their kind words about my amateur photography collection!

    **********I BE DA LAZY*********

I had every intention of developing some elaborate photo album of our San Diego and Los Angeles adventures, but when it came time to do it, the Lazy Fairy dusted me with lazy-powder like how Emeril coats his food with *BAM!* Essence. So, the best I could do was upload the pics and...yeah...it kinda stopped there. So without further adieu, viola!

  • San Diego 2003

  • Los Angeles 2003

  • So tomorrow's our firm's Summer Outing, and for once I'm actually looking forward to it! Why? Well, let's just say there were a lot of cruel people (@ssholes) I've encountered during my career...most of which are waiting for me to wrap up their engagements. I know I shouldn't burn any bridges, but I don't see how I'd benefit from keeping ties with selfish mutherf*ckers. If there's one thing I've learned in my 4+ years in a Big 4 accounting firm is the power of leverage! Bow down, you self-serving f*cknuts! Feel the wrath of the Mouji Warrior!

    **********MOST UNEVENTFUL WEEKEND**********

Wish I could fill this update up with wonderful things we did this weekend, but I can sum it up real quick:

Watched Bruce Almighty (not Carrey's greatest pick but enjoyable)...watched Martin Lawrence's Runteldat on DVD (y'know, I didn't really find his stand-up schtick funny)...went to Best Buy to get a headset for my g/f's two-way Motorola...slept and slept and slept....

I'm pretty much recovered from the cold, but ended up with a viral/bacterial infection that's making me cough up some stuff Van Gough would be proud of. Lots to do today, so I'll keep it short.

    **********SWEATY HOG**********

I came down with some kinda cold yesterday where I was sporting a 103.8 degree fever. I was pretty much useless at work (not like I was ever "useful" to begin with hee hee hee). It was so bad that it took me about an hour to somewhat make a dent into a can of Progresso chicken and noodle soup. Two sips...nausea...drink water...hungry again...and the vicious cycle just went on and on and on....

I guess the worse is over since I pretty much burned the fever into a cold sweat this morning. I had sweat pants on with a matching hooded zip-up sweater (gotta look good even when I'm sick as a dog, y'know?), and it was soaked by the time my g/f woke me up before she headed out to work. The fever is now at a tolerable 100.6 degrees, but my body feels weak as f*ck!

Anyhoo, it looks like my turtles can spend hours on end basking in the 27 watt spotlight I hooked up for them. Who knew turtles like such warm temps (85 - 90 degrees F)?

    **********RADIOSHACK GEEK @SSHOLE**********

So here I am scouring the greater downtown/union square area to find a basic, simple USB extension for my webcam. (Sidebar: I'm trying to put up a turtle cam for you folx) Initially, I thought CompUSA would be a logical choice, but all they had in stock were USB A/B extentions up the fuggin' ying-yang, and even if they were instock, all they would have is 6ft. extensions...pitiful. So I thought "no prob...Office Depotacross the street would have tons of these on hand". Let me just say that the Office Depot on 3rd St. & Market is the saddest excuse of a megastore, and of course no USB extension! This was getting rather ridiculous at this point, but as I left the building, I saw yet another computer accessories store across the street. I dashed on over only to be disappointed yet again! Now it officially became a quest..."The Search for a USB Extension Before My Lunch Hour Ends" kinda quest. Thinking fiendishly like a mad scientist, it finally popped into my head - Radioshack!!! Of course! How could I be so stupid! And it was just a few blocks from my office! *smacks head w/ dead fish*

So I proceeded to enter the store only to be bum-rushed by 4 rather rat-like creatures commonly referred to as Radioshack salesmen. One in particular fought his way to the front of the pack while the others gave up and disappeared into the dark recesses of the aging store scowling silently their disapproval of the alpha male. The rat that helped me looked kinda like an insomniac Jeffrey Dahmer with those huge thick glasses and beady eyes wearing a striped short-sleeve dress shirt and a thin tie to boot...I'm NOT making this up I promise! In all that fuss, I somehow managed to find what I needed (10ft extension for only $15! Rock on!) despite his insistance on helping me. He looked at what I had clutched in my hands and said, "Y'know, that's a USB extension for your information." I made the mistake of replying with more than a "I know" and explained that I just wanted to extend the reach of my webcam. Then the fugger had the audacity to snicker jokingly, "Oh I see...for your porn site, right?" Mentally, my jaw hit the floor in amazement...I was speechless! It didn't stop there, folx! The f*cknut then told me how this reminded him of some Simpson episode of how Bart won an award for best non-porn website that showed cartoons of Homer when he gets angry or something...and he repeated this 3 f*ckin' times!!! Two insults for the price of one: 1) I'm a f*ckin' exhibitionist pervert, and 2) I'm a fellow Simpson watching mutant-geek! Oh gawd almighty, what it took for me to hold back and NOT dropkick this bumbling idiot across the room only the best of the best will know!

My hope is now that you peeps out there will enjoy watching over my turtles on the webcam thang (to the left) after all that I've been thru. *collapses in exhaustion*

**********SO MUCH TO BE THANKFUL FOR**********

Geez...one week vacation is definitely not enough to recharge the batteries and rest the ole bones, y'know? I have tons of pics, but no motivation to upload...waaaaaa! However, I really want to thank a bunch of peeps for making my little L.A. excursion worth the 5 hour (10.5 hours round trip) drive:

  • The Yams: Thanks Brian and Matthew for trying to coordinate an LA webbie get-together! G/f had too much fun with Mathew, and I certainly enjoyed your expertly-picked watermelon and mango! Just like home, man! Mathews growing quick now! He's definitely a LOT stronger than he was 2 years ago. Can't wait for you guys to come up to the Bay Area!

  • The future Mr. & Mrs. Hamachi: You guys seriously rock, yo! Much mahalo's for hauling ass from different parts of SoCal to meet us so that we can watch you two enjoy your dinner! Too bad we were suffering some major sleep-deprivation otherwise we'd probably would like to have seen your condo & cat (at least I would have liked the cat...kekekeke)! Oh, thank you very much for the Petco giftcard, dudes! You shouldn't have!

  • Peggy and Ashlyn: You guys always make a gloomy day bright! Like I said before, we'd be happy to take Ashlyn off your hands (disclaimer: after she's potty-trained that is) and give you a break. OC/Irvine looks like a place I wouldn't mind living in one day should the opportunity arise. G/f wouldn't complain either! You must call us next time you're in town!

  • Winnie Ilikea: I was sooooo happy that we could meet you for lunch (at the very least!) right before we hit the I-5 homebound! Sistah, if you thought that was mediocre, so-so Korean food, then we just HAVE to come back down so you can take us to the real fo-schizzle! Hope you make it to Hawaii and tan yourself two shades of dao si! Hahahahaha!

  • And for those who are inquiring, we've named the turtles Byron and Sedgewick - a play on the names of my g/f's younger brothers Brian and Cedric. Reason why is that both turtles eerily act like very similar to their human counterparts. Reptilian doppelgangers...who woulda thunk it? I initially wanted to name the turtles Skid and Mark...buwahahaha! Anyhoo, thanks to everyone who suggested names for our baby turtles!
