**********BRASS BALLS**********

How could I forget to tell you a story of an encounter with yet another bitch? So this past Sunday, my g/f and I had a hankering for some Chicken Rostadoro at Roundtable Pizza. Since we needed some grocery items, I figured we should eat at the one on Geary between Arguello and Stanyan (next to the Coronet theater) and mosey on up to the Cala Foods on 4th Ave. So we walked in and proceeded to the counter when we saw this chick of Asian persuasion (bitch-sayo) gabbing on her cell phone paying no mind to us. She looked up briefly and then back down again all the while talking up a f*ckin' storm. We stood there in wide-eyed amazement and disdain, when someone from the back came out, gave the bitch the stinkest lookin' eye, and apologized for the wait. Turns out that the dude was only the delivery guy! Oh my gawd I was crazy mad by then! My g/f couldn't stop talking sh*t about the f*cker when we were eating. And get this...she served all the other patrons like a crack ho would serve a drug dealer for a free fix!

Well, it's not going to stop us from going to that particular Roundtable again. We'll just wait it out till the bitch in question either gets fired or quits. Won't be long I would assume...

**********HOT! HOT! HOT!**********

Oh man was it a nice freakin' weekend...again! I dunno what's going on with the weather in SF during the first part of the year, but I'm not going to jinx it by envoking Murphy's f*ckin' law. I'm just going to enjoy it...indoors...*weak smile*

Weekend Update:
  • Friday *night*: G/f picked me up from work...headed down to the Sony Metreon to watch 13 Going On 30...to be honest, and at the risk of wiping out my entire cache of masculinity, I really wanted to see this film...I've never watched more than 2 episodes of Alias, but I'm a sucker for dimples (which my g/f has I assure you!)...ended up really enjoying the movie!...called it a night.
  • Saturday: Didn't really do much since my g/f worked a wierd shift (10 - 7), so I watched Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World...kick ass movie, yo!...emptied 700 individual packets of Splenda into a plastic container (yes, you read that right...some of you have hobbies like knitting, so why can't I???)cleaned/disinfected the turtle tank, and vacuumed the floor. G/f brought home dinner, so we spent the rest of the night watching Infernal Affairs since she hasn't seen it yet (imagine that...an Andy Lau movie she hasn't seen *rolls eyes*)...called it a night.

#24

  • Sunday: My g/f had the day off (yay!), so we decided to make good on a promise we made each other a while back and drive back down south through Cabrillo Highway and check out that Hawaiian restaurant we saw - Ono Hawaiian Grill. My g/f got the Kalbi plate while I went a step further and got the Kalbi Mixed Plate (add a Teri Chicken to the Kalbi plate...as displayed up above). Although they're a bit steep on the price, they marinate and grill their meats extremely well! Most plates come in a "Menehune" and "Blalah" size, so my g/f opted for the small plate. To her surprise, the plate came out with only one scoop of rice, a scoop of mac salad, and ONE STRIP OF KALBI! I've never seen my g/f cut her meat in such tiny pieces! HAHAHAHAHAHA! Luckily, the watier told us that another rib was coming since the cook screwed up on her order. Turned out that they also added a Teri Chicken for the inconvenience! If it weren't in an awkward/inconvenient location, I'd make it a weekly haunt!

Back to my regularly scheduled day of work...

**********FEEL LIKE BEING AN @SSHOLE TODAY**********

  • I did it! I finally did it! A longtime fantasy of mine came true today! I was holding the elevator door for this bitch (for lack of a proper name) who decided to take her sweet ass time walking over...not even an upper-body jogging motion to indicate that her mind was willing to hurry the f*ck up but the body was weak. Upon grazing her way to the elevator bank (that lazy, fat f*cking cow), she had the audacity to stop in her tracks (freight train slob) to see if there was another elevator she could take besides the one I was in. I think I lost it right around there as I recall releasing my hold of the elevator door while vigorously stabbing the "close door" button as the whites of my eyes turned a demonic black. Thoroughly enjoyed the look on her face. Oh...I might have uttered "Too slow" and waved goodbye as the door slammed shut.
  • Why-O-WHY must some people insist that thickened, ginger-spiced soy sauce slathered over a boiled chicken breast is Chicken Teriyaki???!!!
  • I learned today that spandex in your dress shirt isn't that bad of an idea since it provides some level of protection from wind-chill. That said, why the f*ck are people looking at my nipples today?!! I tripple and quadruple-checked, and they aren't protruding! Stop looking at my tits, f*ckin' pervs!!!

  • Ok...I'm spent...nappy time...

    **********PROTECTIONISM???**********

So I find myself a bit conflicted about a conversation I recalled having with a family friend in Hawaii who happens to be a doctor. It all starts with the fact that his practice caters to primarily Chinese families since he's probably one of maybe a handful of doctors that can speak Cantonese, Mandarin, and fluent English (well...he kinda sounds like that Charlie Chan character, but extremely fluent nonetheless). Although he owns his own business and makes a balanced living, he's quite contentious with a few recent immigrants who have found a way to suck the life out of Medicaid, and other state health programs, to provide free healthcare to their family and teaches other folx how to reap full benefits from the government. Ordinarily, I wouldn't be opposed to the practice should there be a legitimate need, but I've heard too many stories of how these clientele walk into the office with their f*ckin' noses high in the air, adjust their Versace outfit, swing/flaunt their keys to the Lexus 330 that's parked outside (in the handicap stall no doubt sportin' a bullsh*t handicap permit) when they could have easily dropped their keys into their spacious Louis Vuitton bag. I have to be fair and say that my doctor friend has more interest in these types of clientele than the sheer hypocrisy of it all - Federal and State programs take their sweet-ass time processing claims and often deny coverage for certain routine treatments.

Irregardless, I find myself wavering somewhere in the middle. On one hand, I have to give it to these recent immigrants for being so resourceful and finding loopholes for the betterment of their overall wealth and wellbeing. On the other hand, such loopholes are at the expense of hardworking citizens who bust their asses day after day taking home only a fraction of the pay to subsidize programs that these peopel take advantage of. How fair is that?

I guess I'm not as conflicted as I once was after writing this entry. I'm rather pissed off at these freeloaders. It's one thing to benefit from someone else's failure to correct inefficiencies, but it's another thing when you do so knowing that you're hurting the very people around you that made it possible in the first place!

I'm so f*ckin' tempted to call my IRS auditor friend to make inquiries on a select few patients...if only there was a way to report these motherf*ckers legally without violating doctor-patient priveleges. *huff*

    **********THE NERVE!**********

So I was in line this morning to buy a medium cup of coffee (like usual), when this bitch in front of me decided to purchase a $0.75 can of Dr. Pepper with a $100 bill! Motherf*cker!!! Actually, it should be more like "Fatherf*cker!!!", but I live in San Francisco, so ya never know...you just never know...

Hmmm...reminds me...I wanna try AsiaSF one day...boop boop dee boop!

So great news, everybody! My g/f found a job in downtown SF in a corporate setting no doubt! Don't wanna jinx anything, but...GOODBYE, RETAIL!!! My weekends will not be the same anymore. Now I'll have to make room on the couch so that we BOTH can veg out in front of the TV watching DVD's upon DVD's...muwahahahahaha! Best of all, we get to enjoy holidays together! Oooo...next extended weekend trip will either be Seattle or LA...hmmmm...choices, choices...

*UPDATE*: According to this article, it seems my mind is made up...Seattle it is!

    TGIF, peeps! Out!

    **********WHAT WE DID SUNDAY**********

Since my g/f had this past Sunday off, we decided to do as little as possible, especially since most stores/malls were closed on Easter (excpet dem Asian stores hehehehe). Remembering reading a sign that said "Open every day of the year - even holidays", we drove on down to San Mateo to stuff ourselves silly on bentos at Hotaru. For loyal patrons like myself: did you know that the combo specials are almost half of the dinner prices??? SCORE!!! After lunch, we walked on over to Ichiban Kan (the same dollar store that's in J-town) to pick up a few cheap-ass nick-nacks then to the Japanese market on 4th Ave. (forgot the name...sorry!) to get my g/f some packaged curry udon. Since we were in the grocery shopping mood, we decided to brave 99 Ranch in Daly City for some fruits and veggies for the turtles and ourselves. Went back home and made an attempt to make some Portuaguese sausage musubi's (instead of Spam). Turned out OK, but I still prefer my Spam! We chilled the rest of the night watching Britney Spear's Showtime concert (which totally f*ckin' sucked!). She can't sing worth a damn live, lemme tell ya!

    **********GHETTO-LICIOUS**********

I admit it...once in a while I like to do something death-defying...and unfortunately my g/f is brought along to suffer with me. So this past Saturday, since we were in desperate need of making a Target run, I thought it would be fun to make a trip over to Tanforan Mall *muwahahahaha*. After a "finger-free", cholesterol-laden, heart-stopping dinner at Red Robin (sidebar: I had the Royal Red Robin burger which included a beef patty cooked medium, strips of thick crisp bacon, some melted cheddar, and topped off with a jumbo fried egg...if that doesn't clog them arteries, I dunno what can!), we proceeded our journey to the Target 'round the corner. After parking in the kidnap-friendly parking structure, we hussled to the entrance of the store. Stopping short of running right through the red-rimmed doors, we stood there confused since the door didn't open immediately. I started waving around like a deranged maniac trying to trip the sensor to open the door. Luckily, I found the door handle with the word "pull" over it (Oh mah gawd! Manual labor to enter to the store?!! The nerve!!!). Guarding our personal possessions like an armored division in the army, we made our way around the store quickly gathering what was necessary, paid for it, and wasted no time pulling away from the area.

Ok...Ok...there's a wee bit of exaggeration in the story, but I BET those of you who've been to Tanforan can relate to my story on one level or another, huh?!! Don't lie! Don't lie!

Heh. Either we're spoiled, or Tanforan really is more ghetto than Serramonte. Waddya think?

**********INTELLIGENCE IS WASTED ON THE STUPID**********

The following is a near word-for-word quote from a potential candidate my g/f interviewed recently:

"Are we gonna work hard here? At Coldstone, we work really hard, and we always end up smelling like waffles and ice cream. People always come up to me and say 'Can I eat you?'"

"Will I get this job? Do you like me?"

Y'know, I couldn't have purposely sabotaged an interview like how that girl did unknowingly!

    **********THAT'S A WRAP***********

    Friday, March 26, 2004

I spent the day pretty much with my parents and brothers since it was most likely the last day I get to spend with them while everyone's around. Ate lunch at this little hole-in-the-wall restaurant in Chinatown that makes the best boh jai fahn (clay pot rice casserole dishes) around. Man, talk about comfort food! Went home after lunch and just hung out with everyone.

Met my g/f and yet another set of friends for a "couples" dinner at Irifune (sorry 'bout the blurry pic, but it was a bit embarrassing doing that kinda stuff...so no retakes) on Kapahulu Ave.. This restaurant was a great culmination to our trip back home. It's a no frills kinda place, and, best of all, it's BYOB! Park across the street, show up with a cooler full of beer, order some onolicious Japanese or Japanese-inspired food, and just enjoy the rest of it however which way you want! Aaaaah.........

After a light dinner and some heavy boozin', someone had the notion that we were ripe for some karaoke'ing. Uh...yeah...I'll just leave it at that, OK?

    Saturday, March 27, 2004

To tell you the truth, I don't quite know where this day went. I guess we both had a lot on our minds since we knew it was too damned short of a visit back home. So many things we wanted to do, so many people we wanted to go out and have fun with...just not enough time...not enough...

I guess in hindsight, we both suspect that our time on the mainland is diminishing. The call home is resonating so much louder with each passing day. I can hardly find good reasons for me to stay up here anymore. Housing prices are astronomical, we have no family up here, and raising a family in the Bay Area is ABSOLUTELY out of the question...I dunno, guys...time to start planning what we in our hearts know is the right thing to do.
