I heard a buzz about how good the Opus One reds were, so stupid me decided to make a day out of it. It took us 2 hours to get there from I-80! NEVER AGAIN will I take that route! We got there with a half hour to spare before the tasting room closed. As soon as we got to the tasting room, we bucked the f*ck outta there! C'mon...$25 a taste?!! A 2001 bottle woulda set me back $250! As much as I adore my g/f's parents, I don't think they'd appreciate such "refined" wine.

All was not lost. On our way back on Hwy. 29, I thought of this winery I used to audit in the Carneros Valley. We didn't go to the winery I was thinking of but another one in the area. I recall talking to a wine-maker, and she commented (in her French accent...ooo la la!) that the Carneros region is akin to the Bordeux region in France (ooo la la part deux!). As such, Carneros Pinot grapes are pretty damned fuggin' good. My g/f can confirm this...take a look at the last pic above...grape thief!!! The price for wine tasting was much more palatable: under $15 to taste their 3 signature Pinot Noir's.
In the end, we decided on the Avant Garde, which is a younger, less-complex, yet smooth Pinot which is meant to be opened and enjoyed this year. Good choice...right price...awesome!
When the day was done, we decided to take a leisurely ride back home with stops here and there to take pics both near and far...*cue background spa music*

At the Hukilau
Went to the Hukilau this past Saturday. Is it just me or do they have a high turn-over rate with their waitstaff? Everytime we go it's like a new crew...*shrug* The food was "adequate" this time around.
10th Annual San Francisco Aloha Festival
Went to the 10th Annual San Francisco Aloha Festival in the Presidio shortly afterwards (y'know...to keep up with the theme at lunch). I think this might be the last time we go. We've been going religiously for the past 5 years or so and haven't found anything "extraordinary" about it. It's looking more and more like the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet...an overpriced one at that. There were only 2 reasons over the years: 1) to meet Kim Taylor Reece in person, and 2) Malasadas. I can make my own Malasadas now, so it's down to one reason. However, with my digicam and photo software, I'm just a half-naked hula dancer away from having my own autograph-signing booth. And NO my g/f won't pose for my album *snicker*.

Foggy as f*ck!
Had a hankering for some midnight dim sum, so we drove our asses to Dim Sum King for some yummy yummy goodies. What a sh*tty mistake that was. The fog was (for us anyways) unusually thick. We could barely see 20 feet in front of us at times. Ah wells, at least the food was hot and onolicious.
Didn't do much on Sunday besides going to Stanford Shopping Center to get my g/f's dad's b'day gift.
Work beckons...

So how does this work? I worked out like a muthaf*cka last week...Precor elliptical, weights, swimming, embarrassed myself on that Pilates bouncy ball...but I weighed in at a pound *heavier* than before! My g/f lost about 4lbs doing the same routine, so wot da f*ck?!!
I gotta go buy me one of dem scales with a on-board fat analyzer. Saw one at Bed, Bath and Beyond for $80 (not including my 20% off coupon hehehehe). I'm not into the ones that talk to you cuz it might just tell me to step the f*ck off cuz it hurts so bad!
