Been away at a 2-day conference in San Ramon...I'm still tired from all the monotonous presentations and lame ass "group" games. Y'know, sometimes games you get straight out of some outdated "group-building" book on management can be a bad thing. Dunno. Just me I guess. Know what "getting to know you" game I DESPISE the most? It's that blackout bingo type game where you have a bingo box comprised of sh*t like "has run a marathon" or "has been to Europe" and you have to go around the room trying to find someone who has done some of these things and have them sign the applicable square. So...f*ckin'...LAME!!! Listen, I don't give a rat's ass if you've been to a NKOTB concert! Just sign the muthaf*ckin' paper so I can win that coffee mug from last year's conference! If I ever organized one of those, I'd be sure to squeeze in a few of the boxes "thinks necrophilia isn't quite that bad" and "anal sex has freed me from my dependence on laxatives". Fer reals, dood... Man...end of the 3rd quarter of the calendar yaar already. It's time for us accountants to emerge from our cubicle-slumber and raise a bit of hell for people in operations. Aaaaaaah...Too bad this only comes 4 times a year...damn it... ***posted by Mouji on 9/30/2004 03:38:00 PM*** ::

![]() Giorgio's Pizzeria Friday *night*: I went to a going away drinking binge for a former public accounting colleague of mine...got picked up by g/f...drove down to the Richmond district and satisfied my g/f's craving for Giorgio's Pizzeria thin-crust, hand-tossed pepperoni (and jalapeno!) pizza...a diehard New Yorker I once worked with put his stamp-of-approval on this joint with a "sah-right" (this coming from a person who just talked up a lotta sh*t about how you couldn't find a decent "pie" in SF!)...went home to pass out. ![]() ![]() (L) Big Nate's BBQ / (R) Sushi Chardonnay Saturday: Woke up late as usual...decided that today was going to be "new restaurants" day...started off by going to Manora's Thai Cuisine on Folsom St....screwed ourselves over (for the 2nd time!) since Manora doesn't serve lunch on the weekends...ended up trying Big Nate's BBQ across the street (sorta)...the pulled-pork sandwich was moist and yummy...the pork ribs was kinda tough...their "spicy" BBQ sauce was finger-lickin', Flava-flavorful, boyeeee!...my g/f's sixth-sense kicked into full gear and landed us in Napa where she finally was able to find her damned brown boots to match her outfit...drove back to the city after pickin' up some fruits and veggies at some fruit stand in Napa...ended up trying the all-you-can-eat sushi dinner at Sushi Chardonnay (dunno why, but that day I remembered reading about that place on Nelson's site a few times and wanted to give it a try)...perhaps we went on an off-night (but I doubt it since it was a Saturday and all), but I didn't really think I got my $21 worth...the rice was kinda dry, the fish seemed like it was just a day away from ending up in a fish stew...I did like, however, their white tuna nigiri (which the waitress recommended near the fuggin' end of our meal...hmph *pout*)...went home and watched Connie and Carla on DVD...so-so kinda movie where the concept of the movie had a ton of potential but instead went flat by spending WAY too much time on the drag-queen performances instead of character development and the budding romance between Nia Vardalos and Sunday: Started the day with 20 laps in the pool...cooked brunch (can't beat Portuaguese sausage, eggs, and rice, brah!)...cleaned the apartment (I think I should try harder to convince my g/f that I need a Dyson to do a proper vacuuming)...went to get groceries at Whole Foods on Harrison St....didn't know that the Folsom Street Fair was going on...caught my fair share of half-naked muscle-heads in chaps w/ no pants (read: Naked Asses galore!)...drove to Dim Sum King (our near-weekly ritual it seems now)...this new hostess had the audacity to take a look at the signed credit card slip while we were still seated and chatting...I was so f*ckin' incensed at her horrible business manners that I was about to embarrass her in front of the night manager...one bad apple won't spoil the bunch, tho...called it a night. ***posted by Mouji on 9/27/2004 09:15:00 AM*** ::

![]() Oh man oh man...I wish I was making this up, but apparently someone made a Broadway musical of The Last Starfighter! The sheer ludicrousness of it all just makes me want to see it even more! I mean, can you just imagine the choreography of the dance number when Alex Rogan and Grig engages the "Death Blossom" to save their asses?!! If in the NY area, go buy tickets now! Addendum: I just noticed something...the movie was made 20 F*CKIN' YEARS AGO!!! *chants* "I'm not that old...I'm not that old...I'm not that old... ***posted by Mouji on 9/24/2004 10:38:00 AM*** ::

FRIDAY *night*: Went to our "dunno what else to do but this" hangout (read: Sony Metreon)...got me some "Moo Goo Gee" at Longlife Noodles while my g/f got her usual "Red Ranch Chicken Sandwich" at Buckhorn Grill...watched Collateral which was a pretty good movie considering a LOT could go wrong if the director didn't pay attention...props to Michael Mann...Jada Pinkett-Smith makes for great close-up shots! My cousins youngest of 3 daughters...soooooooo cuuuute!!! 2nd time I've been inside the Hyatt Regency at the Embarcadero...pretty nice place to stay. SATURDAY: G/f's been craving Japanese food for about 2 weeks straight now (no...she ain't preggers!)...figured I'd stuff her silly at Hotaru in San Mateo (haven't been there in some time now believe it or not)...went to 99 Ranch to get some pastries for my visiting cousin and some groceries for ourselves...got a call from my cousin saying they've made it safely to SF after driving from LA (4 adults, 2 toddlers, and 1 baby...DAYAM!)...drove like a madman back home to dump our stuff...met up with my family to take a short ass cable car ride to Chinatown...very fortunate that the Autumn festival was still there...ended up eating at R & G Lounge on Kearny...small portions (except for the fat crab)...my cousin loved it and kept raving how this was good HK style food (which figures cuz he's married to a Taiwanese, live in a Taiwanese neighborhood, and minutes away from his Taiwanese in-laws)...poor guy...the only Canto reprieve he gets is when I visit him in LA hehehehe...called it a night. SUNDAY: We felt lethargic, so we pretty much became "one" with the bed...cooked lunch...finally forced ourselves to get out of the apt. and get us a replacement 250W heating light bulb for the bathroom...later went out to have some Mexican fare at La Taqueria in the Mission...good deal = carne asada quesedilla w/ flour tortilla, bad deal = just about everything else...probably the most anemic burritos/tacos I've seen since Taco Bell...tasty meats though...watched TV and went to bed. ***posted by Mouji on 9/20/2004 09:13:00 AM*** ::

![]() By way of FreNcHy4LyFe's site, just read that KC Drive Inn is planning to close its doors in the near future. I admit that I've only eaten there a handful of times (namely for their famous waffle hot dogs), but I'm really sad that they're going away *sob*. Now how am I going to give directions to Kapahulu Ave. without saying "when you see KC Drive Inn, make one right..."? Damn...another one bites the dust... 30% OFF ENTIRE PURCHASE: AEROPOSTALE - Here's another "Friends & Family" deal I found last minute (sorry for the late notice...hope at least one of you out there will get to use this). Click here for printable coupon. Event begins/ends this weekend (September 17 - 19). Don't forget to read the fine print on the coupon! ***posted by Mouji on 9/17/2004 10:20:00 AM*** ::

Friday *night*: Went to Japantown...had us some plates of sushi at Isobune Sushi...watched Wicker Park at Kabuki (sidebar: if you ever see theater 7 or 8 printed on the tickets, you should ask for your money back cuz those theaters are frickin' small and has virtually no AC!)...slow start to the movie, but ended quite well I thought...they NEED to start casting younger-LOOKING female love interests opposite Josh "Heart-throb" Hartnett cuz he's one of those f*ckers that won't age...called it a night. Saturday: Ate lunch at PJ's Oyster Bed sans forgetful butt-munch of a waitress (the one that forgot to put in our order even though we were one of two couples dining...*grumble*...)...food was OK, small portions, big prices...clam chowder and their "alligator eggs" are the only things I like...there's much better Cajun food elsewhere (hey, Peg...when you taking us to Nola's???)...drove all the frickin' way down to Valley Fair Mall since my g/f was sure she'd find dark brown shoes/boots to match her cardigan set and LV purse (don't understand...and never will...why she insists on buying $100 pair of shoes/boots to match a $30 cardigan set *baffled*)...ended up on forgoing the boots for an ultra-chic pair of pants *even more baffled*...dinner at Chevy's...watched Twisted on DVD...I pretty much knew "who dunnit" midway thru the movie...aside from the fact that about 30% of the movie was filmed pretty much right across the street from me without me knowing it, the movie fell short of my "Holy sh*t! Sam Jackson and Andy Garcia are in it?!!" expectations...night-night. Sunday: Drove down to San Mateo and tried Little Sichuan for the first time...one of the best Dahn Dahn Mein (spicy noodles w/ peanut sauce) and Chung Yau Beng (onion pancake) I've had in a while...wasn't at all impressed with their Joh Jung Tong Gai (General Tso/Cho's chicken...don't ask why we ordered it...glutton for punishment I guess)...Woh Tihp (potstickers) were adequate...definitely will eat here again, but we'll be more adventurous next time instead of sticking to the standard fare...shopped at Draegers for the first time as well...expensive as f*ck...Whole Foods is better I think...bought us a Tanita bathroom scale at Bed, Bath, and Beyond (gotta use those 20% off coupons I have stockpiled...you do know that they don't expire despite the expiration date, right?)...cleaned up the apartment...cooked misoyaki salmon w/ cold soba noodles and leftover Little Sichuan...watched Soul Plane on DVD...think this will be the last time I consciously rent one of them screwball, made-for-BET, sh*tty plot, bad acting, lame jokes that are funnier in a stand-up bit than forced in a movie kinda movie...called it a night. ***posted by Mouji on 9/13/2004 01:09:00 PM*** ::

![]() I got an email from Netflix the other day to invite friends and family to try their online DVD rental service free for one month! Usually the trial period is only for two weeks, so this is a pretty good deal. Now for the small print....... The offer expires 9/20/04, so you better hurry the f*ck up! This is for first time customers only, so we "existing customers" can't cheat the f*ckers out of a free month even though we've been dumping cash in their pockets month after month after month after month......It's pretty safe to assume that you gotta give up your credit card info since the deal states that they'll start charging yo ass $22 a month if you don't cancel before your trial period ends. In other words, you cheap f*ckers out there better set your Outlook calenders to remind your stingy asses to cancel before it's too f*ckin' late! If you're interested, either leave me a comment below or, better yet, email me so I can forward the invite to you. ***posted by Mouji on 9/09/2004 10:39:00 AM*** ::

Wow...in 2002, the Bay Area spent an average of 73 hours a year per person stuck in traffic! Presuming that we encounter traffic to/from work, it calculates to about a little over 9 workdays I think we should get back in terms of vacation days! Could be worse...I could be living in LA and waste 93 hours of my year! ***posted by Mouji on 9/08/2004 03:04:00 PM*** ::
