OK...so I embellished the pic a little. Had I left the pic untouched (click here if you dare), would you want to drink it?

Obligatory Pics of Culinary Discovery and Conquest

Thai Chicken Curry

Marinated Flank Steak

I'll be honest...first time cooking flank steak...tasted good but not a big fan of the cut of meat

Got inspired after a recent trip to Straits Cafe and looking at all those large jars of fruit-infused vodka

If this works out, I guess I'll have some peeps' Christmas gifts covered *wink*

Last weekend we drank a courage potion and braved a venture to Tanforan Mall to check out their new digs. From the parking lot, it looked like the remodeled mall was off to a good start with ghetto-repellent establishments like Barnes & Noble and a pricey-lookin' brew n' grill restaurant. When I peered into B&N and saw the majority of the patrons hanging around the in-store Starbucks rather than meandering through the ailes of books, I knew the facade was too good to be true. Granted, the rest of the mall looked cleaner and more contemporary (replete with neon lights and other clever optical illusions). However, you can put a fresh coat of paint over ghetto, but ghetto will creep back out in no time! Admitedly, the mall owners did say that they aimed to target "sub-Stanford Mall" patrons, so I was not that disappointed. Let's just say that I was a lot more at ease here than at Fox Hills Mall in Culver City (LA).

I call this next piece "Irony":

An elegant, classic bucket-style Louis Vuitton purse - a symbol of class and prestige

Oh! Look! A surprise gift hastily wrapped! Could it be a 14ct. tw. tennis bracelet from Tiffany's?

The anticipation is exquisitely torturous!

......it's the last two rolls of cheesy bread from Red Lobster......

Didn't I mention we were at Tanforan Mall? I didn't want to draw attention to us by not doing what other peeps were doing, y'know?

BTW, Red Lobster's all you can eat shrimp special is the fuggin' ghetto-sh*tz, dooood! My poor poo-hole was burning somethin' fierce later that same night, tho...

15% OFF ALL HOME FURNISHINGS AT IKEA...to celebrate their 20th Anniversary (wow! didn't know they've been around that long!). This Friday - Sunday only (Oct. 28 - 30). However, Seattle, San Diego and Houston can't participate cuz you guys are fuddy-duddies 8^P

Perhaps I should go and get me something to help organize all the stuff my fiance buys, use once, then stuff back into our tiny-ass towel closet only to surface years later when I get pissed off and pull everything off the shelf after having to navigate through a labyrinth of bottles of shampoos, conditioners, and face scrubs to get at a new pack of dental floss!

Like the dickhead that I am, I thought I'd make a surprise visit to someone I wanted answers from (since she was not responsive to either email or voicemail). As soon as I got up there I see her (side profile) appear to be engrossed in whatever she was reading off of her monitor. I made somewhat of an entrance commotion (rustled a few papers I was holding, cleared my throat...dat kinda stuff), but she wouldn't budge away from her monitor. After 30 or so seconds I started to get really annoyed since I made quite a commotion to get noticed. That's when I saw it - the infamous involuntary head snap! BIATCH BE SLEEPING!!! Maaaaaan I wish I had long hair to block my face when I'm napping in my cube!

Here's an excerpt from an article on the front page of today's SF Chronicle:
"For every mile per hour faster than 55 mph, fuel economy drops by about 1 percent...The drop-off increases at a greater rate after 65 mph. The faster you go, the faster the fuel goes."
Man...I dunno if I could handle 55 mph without going totally psychotic, but 65 mph "might" be tolerable. It's just that the right-most lane is kinda like...well...shameful and embarrassing, y'know?

So we have this new torture device in the weight room where you sit on this contraption, hold on to handlebars above your head, and do some nasty-ass power crunches. Oh, and you can add plates on the back for you hardcore masochists (30lbs was all it took for me). Hooooo! Even eating hurts my abs now!

Aw, f*ck! I just sneezed! *doubles over in pain*

I have a few pics from Fleet Week aboard the U.S.S. Boxer, but I lazy, 'kay!

Alright...alright...one pic:

When the f*ck did stating the obvious become newsworthy? Why would an editor allow an article entitled "Exercise Can Trim Deep Abdominal Fat" be published? Oh...the genious doesn't stop there, peeps! A few excerpts if you will:
"Their study of overweight, sedentary adults found that those who started working out on treadmills and stationary bikes tended to lose, or at least not add to, their stores of visceral fat..."
*gasp* That's shocking!!!
"In contrast, their peers who remained sedentary showed a substantial gain in visceral fat..."
Earth-shattering!!!

Can't wait to read the journalist's next story on how taking a shower might cause your body to get wet! Riveting!

I think I'm going to suffer from some serious separation anxiety once I'm done watching the last couple of episodes of Firefly. I'm a bit befuddled as to why Fox would pull this show mid-season back in 2002. My theory was that the networks were saturated with SciFi themed shows back then and that the SciFi channel wasn't large enough back then to give the show its proper respect (but they are airing the entire season to hype up Serenity). Speaking of Serenity, isn't the success of the movie the biggest "F*ck You" to Fox? Man, I really hope there's going to be a Season 2 in the works....

ADDENDUM: Ok...so perhaps I was too quick to point out how successful the movie is. It only grossed about $17 million thus far with a production budget of $50 million. However, even with a conservative estimate of $20 million in domestic sales, international and, later, DVD sales/rentals will most likely boost the franchise's gross revenues to $60 million earning a respectable 20% return. Yeah...'nuff said!

Don't you hate how some people like to over-complicate things by drafting these funky-ass schedules and schematics to show something which could have been summarized in a few lines in a simple spreadsheet?!! I think people get mad at me when I point out the obvious by saying things like "why do we need all these columns?" and "so basically all you're trying to say is..."

I also hate peeps who think they're doing you a favor by using all the colors in the color palette to "code" things on their spreadsheet. I should just lie and say that I'm colorblind just to watch them scramble to redo everything...

Bleh...been fighting off something this entire weekend. Finally bubbled up to a 101°F fever yesterday. Feeling OK this morning, tho. Needless to say there was a lot of bedrest during the weekend. However, during spurts of insanity, I managed to get out and eat at Nick's Crispy Tacos. Pescado (Baja-style battered fish) taco and/or burritos are pretty fuggin' grubbin'! Going back fer sure!
